The studio at Boxed and Burlap DOWNTOWN at 230 East Walworth Ave. Delavan WI is located on the main level of the building and can be seen through the glass wall that divides it from the rest of the space. The studio is set up to host a variety of art classes and art experiences that are welcoming to all skill levels and a range of ages including drawing, painting, collage, mixed media, pottery + hand built ceramics.

This space and the teachers in it hope to bring you the joy and peace of creativity.

HISTORY

The vision for an art studio began when the flagship location was first being developed is 2015. As things evolved at that location what was originally envisioned for the studio is now the BATTEN HOUSE. The dream of an art studio at Boxed and Burlap is now becoming a true reality with the dedicated studio space DOWNTOWN.

THE STUDIO space at the of the DOWNTOWN building once upon a time was a clothing store, prior to Schultz Bros. Five + Dime purchasing the space to include it in the floor plan for their store.

In August of 2021 while the DOWNTOWN building was still being remodeled Sothebys’s Auction House contacted Boxed and Burlap looking for a space to host an interview. THE STUDIO DOWNTOWN became the location where Simon Shaw of Sotheby’s interviewed Virgil Abloh discussing Virgil’s creative connection to the artist Christo, in conjunction to Christo’s L’Arc de Triomphe, Wrapped project in Paris.

Boxed and Burlap feels honored and forever grateful to have been chosen as the space for this interview and ultimately for the inspiration that was gained from that experience and Virgil Abloh himself.
